WHO WORE IT BEST?

Written By Kat

In the 90s, designer jeans became all-the-rage. From the time Brooke Shields reassured us that “nothing” was coming between she and her Calvins, denim was fetishized. Advertisers were first on board, promoting their brands as young, hip, and flattering the easiest way possible: sex.

Once a novelty, the topless denim trend has slowed considerably since Marky Mark’s Times Square billboard days, but has never died completely.

See here, exhibit A: the Kardashians latest fame-whore cash-grab.

If you ask me, this is a big “Meh.” I find Khloe to be very distracting, partially due to the awkwardness of her pose, partially due to the ill fit of her jeans. I’m not a wealthy human, but it doesn’t cost much to tailor denim, and it’s probably a good idea that the jeans fit, if you are making an ad for them. Kim is equally unimpressive, but I credit that to her general vapidness. Kourtney looks kind of hot. They all have great hair.

In fashion, it’s important to judge people against eachother. We call this “Who Wore It Best?” This month’s Who Wore It Best is Topless Denim:

First up, Kim’s first topless jeans ad, circa 2007.

Two words: Dat. Ass. Although not a huge fan of Kim, gotta give respect where it’s due. Her curves are almost selling me on those godawful zip-up flares. Almost.

Heidi Klum: Not really sure what they are going for here with the gloves and the lash, but girlfriend’s lacking in curves, which gets a big thumbs down from this staff.

Lindsey Lohan… ::sigh:: Unfortunately, this pretty little ginger has become the posterchild for how not to live. This ad is no exception.

And, lastly, Beyonce. Daaaayum. That’s all there is to say. For our staff, it’s a no-contest on who wore it best. In fact, after Beyonce, nobody should ever try this look again– it’s the gold-standard.

So who do our readers think wore it best?
